Aikido Celebration 2011 in Hawaii - Commemorative Brochure

This is the commemorative brochure for Aikido Celebration 2011 in Hawaii, created by local photographer Ric Noyle.

Aikido Celebration 2011 was an organization dedicated to the public commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first and only visit made to Hawai‘i by the founder of Aikido, OSensei Morihei Ueshiba. It was also an opportunity to recognize the efforts of the people in Hawai’i and elsewhere who made that 1961 visit possible, and to perpetuate the practice of Aikido in Hawai‘i for future generations.

The commemorative seminar in Honolulu featured Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu and Mitsuteru Ueshiba Waka sensei as well as Seijuro Masuda sensei from Aikikai Hombu Dojo and Yoshimitsu Yamada sense from the New York Aikikai. There were also a number of local instructors and instructors with local ties. Almost 500 Aikido students from around the world attended the seminar at McKinley High School - the same place where Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei gave a demonstration in 1961 during his stay on Oahu.
